Workbook 4 version 3 – parent/aide
$AUD15.00
This downloadable, printable workbook targets the following vowel spellings in a variety of words: ai as in ‘rain’, ee as in ‘see’, oa as in ‘boat’, ur as in ‘turn’, ea as in ‘head’, ow as in ‘now’, oo as in ‘food’, igh as in ‘night’, oo as in ‘look’, or as in ‘for’, oi as in ‘coin’, ar as in ‘car’, air as in ‘hair’ and ear as in ‘dear’.
Words gradually increase in length. Pages are in pairs, so that learners copy words into sentences on the first page, read them, then write the sentences with punctuation on the second page. Sentences contain only spellings covered in this or previous workbooks, thus setting up reluctant writers for some sentence-writing success.
Description
This 2021 downloadable, printable workbook targets the following vowel spellings in a variety of words: ai as in ‘rain’, ee as in ‘see’, oa as in ‘boat’, ur as in ‘turn’, ea as in ‘head’, ow as in ‘now’, oo as in ‘food’, igh as in ‘night’, oo as in ‘look’, or as in ‘for’, oi as in ‘coin’, ar as in ‘car’, air as in ‘hair’ and ear as in ‘dear’. Words gradually increase in length.
The 70 pages of activities are in pairs. On the first page the learner only has to copy the correct word into an illustrated sentence, then read the sentence. On the second page the learner writes the sentence from dictation, including punctuation. A cheat sheet at the back of the book provides the supporting adult with the sentences, which revise spelling patterns taught in this or earlier workbooks in this series. The book thus sets up easily-dismayed learners who aren’t keen to pick up a pencil for some sentence-writing success.
This workbook was written by a Speech Pathologist to be easy for parents, aides and other non-experts to support. Its teaching sequence is the same as in the Dandelion Readers Extended Code Level 1 books, which are suitable for learners up to about age 8.
The file’s pictures are in colour, but the workbook can be printed in black and white if you prefer. Up to 5 copies of this file may be printed. If you intend to print more copies, please get the teacher/clinician version instead.
