Level 1 v3 word-building sequences
$AUD0.00
Word sequences to build beginning and struggling spellers’ phonemic awareness and orthographic knowledge. Works from two and three-sound words (VC and CVC) up to five and six-sound words (CCVCC and CCCVCC).
Description
The aim of these sequences is to help learners correctly discriminate single-sound (phoneme) differences between words (minimal pairs) and change the relevant spelling (grapheme) to make the new word.
Occasionally, only the order of letters needs to be changed e.g. making “top” into “pot”.
This activity helps develop learners’ phonemic awareness (blending, segmenting, phoneme manipulation) as well as their orthographic knowledge (phoneme-grapheme correspondences, how consonant graphemes are used and combine before and after vowels).
It follows the same sequence as the Spelfabet Workbook 1 version 3, which is also the Sounds-Write Units 1-10 teaching sequence.
