Try out one of our Flex-It games, which help you to explicitly teach pronunciation correction (Set for Variability or ‘flexing’) when decoding polysyllable words. Download and print the cards on three sheets of A4 light card, laminate if desired, cut up into 48 cards, and enjoy the game while helping learners ‘flex’ between the sounds ‘a’ as in ‘atom’ and ‘a’ as in ‘apron’.
Description
Try out one of our Flex-It games for practising Set for Variability (pronunciation correction) skills. The aim of these games is to help learners try another possible sound when they say e.g. ‘a’ as in ‘atom’ in a word requiring ‘a’ as in ‘apron’, or vice versa. Here’s how the game works:

Download and print each game on three A4 sheets of light cardboard, laminate them, cut them up (or get some older students who’ve finished their work and are keen to help to do it), and you’re ready to play. Instructions included.
