Hi Christina, I don’t usually use Elkonin boxes for words like this but I guess since /h/ is only found in syllable-initial position I’d break it up e/x/hi/b/i/t. But I’d be more likely to encourage kids to say it a funny way in their spelling voices, including an /h/, to help them remember the spelling. My theory is that you’re allowed to say a word any way you like in your spelling voice as the point is to help you remember spellings, it’s a strategy for yourself not something other people need to know about.
